The article deals with topical issues concerning the importance of generalization of judicial practice in the process of judicial interpretation of criminal law. The interrelation of judicial interpretation of the criminal law and generalization of judicial practice is analyzed. The theoretical and practical significance of the recommendations and clarifications of the Resolutions of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation for lower courts in passing sentences in criminal cases is also revealed
