Based on the analysis of scientific sources, modern judicial and investigative practice, the article substantiates recommendations for conducting investigative actions in the investigation of crimes committed by organized groups and criminal communities. Problematic is the fact that investigative actions of crucial forensic importance are often carried out by investigators who do not have sufficient experience in investigating organized criminal activity, they do not pay due attention to details indicating signs of crimes committed as part of an organized group, and as a result, these signs are not reflected in procedural documents. The initial stage of the investigation is the weakest link in the technological chain of investigation of the crimes under consideration, and therefore its study is given special importance.
