Introduction: Modes, methods and types of legal regulation are the legal tools that transform legal regulation from a theoretical concept into a legal reality that is in demand not only by legal science, but also by practice. The article attempts to apply legal constructions that have traditionally been related to regulatory regulation to individual legal regulation. Materials and methods: The methodological basis of the research is presented by the general dialectical method of scientific cognition in combination with the method of formal legal analysis and other special legal methods. Results of the study: The author's definitions of modes, methods and types of individual legal regulation are proposed. At the same time, individual prohibitions, obligations and permissions are divided by the author into specific, variable and conditional ones. Attention is drawn to the peculiarities of the methods and types of individual legal regulation. New research directions are proposed concerning the theory of legal regulation in general and modes, methods and types of legal regulation in particular. Summary and conclusions: Based on the analysis, it is concluded that the achievements of the general theory of law concerning regulatory legal regulation are largely applicable to individual legal regulation. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the specifics of individual legal regulation, which is due to the peculiarities of the situation requiring legal resolution on an individual basis, or the characteristics of the subject itself.
