Abstract (English):
The theory of a textbook as an effective tool of optimizing educative process under the conditions of the post-graduate course of the English Language is considered in the article. It is proved that the content of the teaching material in the textbook should be aimed at forming discourse competence that is the knowledge of various types of scientific professional discourse and formation rules, as well as the capability to create and understand them due to communicative situation*.
